Dear Future Aviation Professionals,

Ask any pilot why they love flying and they’ll immediately talk about the feeling of pure freedom as they take off or the serenity of soaring at altitude, (mostly) disconnected from anyone on the ground below. It is easy to imagine flying as a solitary pursuit, but for those of us who choose this path we know we wouldn’t be where we are without the support of so many others.

In the everyday operations of an airline, this teamwork is evident, from the technicians and ground crew ensuring our aircraft are ready to fly to the schedulers, dispatchers, and air traffic control (ATC) helping keep us on track and on time. But even for those just taking their first discovery flight or dreaming of soloing around their home airport, having someone there to help show them the way and say, “you got this,” can mean the world. Without proper guidance, resources, and support, many with the right aptitude are grounded by uncertainty long before their dreams have had a chance to take flight.

JetBlue established the first of our pilot Gateways in 2008 to help remove that uncertainty and encourage the next generation of aviation professionals. Since then, we have grown the Gateways into a suite of programs welcoming hundreds of new pilots and technicians to JetBlue. For those accepted into these industry-leading programs, our Gateways offer a clearly defined development plan with training and airline partners as well as JetBlue mentorship and support. With a conditional job offer based on successful program completion for every Gateways trainee, we’re also directly addressing career uncertainty with a rewarding future at a major airline.

We know there’s no single route to becoming a pilot or aviation maintenance technician (AMT), but we do believe there should be a path for anyone. Whether you learn best in a structured class environment or are self-driven and need the flexibility to train in a specific location with a custom plan, we have Gateways designed to help support you. For current JetBlue crewmembers in other roles, we also believe in your career development and have unique Gateways to help you grow at JetBlue. In keeping with JetBlue’s caring culture, we’ve even taken the additional step to create a Gateway for our crewmembers’ immediate family, opening opportunities for parents, children, or siblings to help shape our future together.

JetBlue pilots and maintenance technicians are among the most highly qualified in the industry. In addition to exceptional experience and training, they share a passion for safety, customer service and caring for their fellow crewmembers.

 
 
 

The Orlando Support Center (OSC) has training spaces as well as The Lodge, a housing facility where crewmembers in training live.

 
 
 

Take your training above and beyond.

The Orlando Support Center (OSC) is one of four JetBlue training centers in the U.S. and the only location that houses training simulators. As a training operation, JetBlue University both creates and instructs its curriculum from OSC utilizing colleges for each workgroup and several support teams also located on campus including learning design, learning analytics, continuous training improvement, records, training scheduling, campus support, and training sales.
